About Me

Hi, I'm Joe!

I'm a hardworking, confident and motivated 19 year old currently looking for an internship over the summer while I complete my Computer Science degree at Lancaster University.

I've had a passion for programming from a young age, and regularly learn new languages and push the boundaries of what I can do by challenging myself to get creative with new projects.

I am comfortable with using Java, C++ and Python, but am a fast learner, which has been built on by my course at university, where they push us to be great at learning new languages, rather than just be comfortable using one or two.

Portfolio Website- HTML & CSS

A portfolio website made over the Easter holidays to keep a log of all my projects and progress.

Paws and Progress- GDScript

A productivity app about walking different animals through relaxing scenery while you work.

Chess- Java

Local 2 player recreation of Chess, given a few basic visual primitives.

Journey Planner- Java

Implementation of Dijkstra's algorithm to plan fastest routes through the Manchester Metrolink.

Cache Noisettes- Java

French squirrel puzzle game, made for university first year summer project.

Chicken Game- GDScript

Silly arcade-like minigame about working on an Egg Farm, made for fun.

Poker- C#

A local single player recreation of Texas Holdem Poker for my A Level Computer Science NEA.

2023

AI vs Family- GDScript

A fun minigame created in 2 days for the 2023 Wowie Game Jam. Ranked 63rd and 80th for creativity and fun respectively- out of 983 submissions.

VAFS- GDScript

Very Accurate Football Simulator- a slightly dodgy top down football simulator made for fun.

Experience

Telephone Fundraiser- Lancaster University

Between February and March 2025, I worked as a telephone fundraiser in Lancaster University's annual telethon in a team that raised over £160,000 for Lancaster Univesity's Opportunity Fund, (£60,000 over the original goal) helping to support students from lower income backgrounds attend higher education.

Crew Member - KFC

I gained experience in the world of work through employment at KFC in the Malls Shopping Center, Basingstoke between October 2022- September 2024, where I learnt how to present myself in a positive and professional manner when interacting with customers and colleagues.
